Actress & Georgia peach, Jessica Luza started her acting career at the ripe age of 11 and relocated to Los Angeles to further pursue her dreams. She is one hot, sassy betch with an impressive resume and sense of style. If you loved the show The Hills as much as I did, then you may recall Jessica as the host of The Hills Fashion Wrap-Up show on MTV. She's done quite a bit of acting since then and continues to expand her already lengthy resume. Today, Jessica joins FBLA to share some of her simple fashion tips.
Living in LA can be so chaotic at times, and it can be a full-time job trying to keep up with the latest fashion trends, so I tend to follow a few simple rules...
#1 Wear what looks good.
Just because flared jeans may be coming back in style does not mean I will be buying them if they don't suit my body type! Never be a slave to trends, just incorporate them when you can/want to. That being said, when I find a denim line that works for me I stick to it and become a very loyal customer. J Brand and Paige are my two favorite lines for jeans, especially their skinny jean styles.
#2 Layer it up.
#2 Layer it up.
Even though the weather in LA is predictably sunny on a daily basis, I never know where my day is going to take me. It doesn't take a meteorologist to know that it's A) generally ten degrees colder near the beach and B) temps drop at night no matter where you are. With that said, I try to keep a multi-colored scarf and denim jacket, or blazer, in my car at all times. This can also instantly help take an outfit from day to night if you find yourself in a bind. Often you will find a pair of heels in my car too - you never know when you may need them and better safe then sorry!
#3 Accessorize!
#3 Accessorize!
I'm a big fan of accessories because they can instantly add pizazz to any outfit. Every day I wear a few staples- my gold Michael Kors watch, a dainty white & yellow gold ring my mother gave me, and currently I am obsessed with my brown & black leather Rebecca Minkoff purse. Ob-sessed. Accessories can quickly make your look polished and put together and you don't have to spend a ton of money on them. I love finding unique pieces at flea markets in NY and at the Melrose Trading Post flea market in LA. I am also a big fan of Gorjana and Dogeared for simple but trendy pieces of gold jewelry to help complete my look.
Overall I try to wear what I feel most happy and comfortable in. I love mixing patterns and wearing bright colors because they bring a smile to my face when I'm getting dressed. My go-to stores are Bloomingdales, Urban Outfitters and Piperlime, Splendid, & BCBGeneration.
